Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational international independent school. The school offers a British style curriculum to both day and boarding students. We offer a wide range of IGCSE subjects and have successfully introduced A level this year.  Our EYFS is small, the Nursery class currently only has 10 gorgeous students. The experienced Reception teacher will be available to provide guidance and support, should it be wished.  There is also an experienced full-time English and Thai speaking TA to provide support; Thai language and culture are important parts of our curriculum. Bloomsbury was founded in 2016  and is still a relatively small school with only 140 children. It boasts impressive buildings and a caring kind team, where everyone knows every child's name.

Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people in our care and requires all applicants to share this commitment. We follow recruitment practices that are aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection. All appointments are subject to an interview, satisfactory professional references and checks of identity, criminal records and qualifications.

  • Have high expectations of what children can achieve
  • Have a great sense of humour
  • Inspire children to be great people
  • Be an excellent, motivating communicator who takes pride in developing the English language with young learners.

This may suit someone who is recently qualified given that we have a highly experienced Teaching and Learning VP, who is also a T4W trainer.  But we cannot conduct the new ECT.

For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to be a house parent living in boarding, with free accommodation provided. However, this is not essential for the post.

Hatyai is located in southern Thailand, close to the border with Malaysia, it is only a 40-minute drive to the nearest beach in Songkhla Town.    The city is a regional hub for tourism to many of southern Thailand's tourist destinations.  With easy internal links to Krabi, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Koh Samui, Koh Lipe as well as 16 flights per day to Bangkok it really is easy to spend your weekends or holidays exploring this beautiful part of the world.  Internationally, in normal times, there are daily flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both of which are only a short distance away, providing easy links to much of Asia.  Both Langkawi and Penang are only around 3 hours away by car.

Hatyai is an up and coming city without the high cost of living found in other more frequented destinations in Thailand.  There are new bars and restaurants opening up frequently providing a range of Western and local food.

Hatyai retains a very 'Thai' feel to the city and the population are very friendly and helpful, welcoming people with the famous 'Thai Smile'. Staff, once they join, tend to not leave as they love the school, the amazingly hardworking students, the city, the beaches and the lifestyle.
