All year round position 

40 hours per week - 7:30am and 6:15pm with an hour unpaid break (a degree of flexibility would be required in this management post to meet the needs of the nursery)

We are looking to recruit an experienced Nursery Manager, committed to delivering an exceptional care provision to children aged within 3 months to 4 years. With responsibility for the operational, strategic and staff management of the Nursery, supported by the Deputy Manager and reporting to the Head of Pre Prep, we are looking to appoint a proactive, positive and nurturing Manager with a proven track record of managing a successful nursery and an inclusive approach to staff management and building relationships with parents. 

Hallfieldfirst is part of Hallfield School, a flourishing co-educational independent day school (3 months –3 years) in the leafy and attractive outskirts of Edgbaston.

The key responsibilities of the Hallfieldfirst Nursery Manager include (but are not limited to):  

  • Work closely with the Head of Pre-Prep and Head of EYFS to oversee the day to day operation of the Hallfieldfirst setting, ensuring compliance with the EYFS and school policies and procedures at all times.  
  • To support the Deputy Head: Head of Pre-Prep in the monitoring and development of the provision and in applying agreed initiatives.   
  • To attend weekly EYFS meetings with the Head Master, Deputy Head: Head of Pre-Prep, Head of EYFS, Deputy Nursery Manager and Head of Learning Support.  
  • To promote and uphold a high standard of childcare throughout the provision, liaising with parents/ carers, other family members and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of the care given.   
  • To support and manage the admissions process in accordance with policy and procedures including showing prospective parents/carers around the Setting facilities and sending out information as requested. 

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:  

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role within an Early Years childcare setting  
  • Experience of implementing strategies to develop a childcare setting  
  • Child focussed, with a passion and commitment to the provision of high quality childcare with an interest in the care, learning and development of young children  
  • Confident and effective leadership skills and experience of managing staff matters including recruitment, supervisions, performance and development  
  • A minimum of a level 3 qualification in childcare  
  • Up to date knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding  
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the EYFS framework and Ofsted inspection criteria  
  • Good knowledge of Early Years SEND provision  
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills and the ability to establish and maintain good professional working relationships with colleagues, parents and children.

Hallfield School is a flourishing co-educational Prep School, renowned for the quality of its extended curriculum and excellent academic reputation.
