We have a fantastic opportunity for a level 2 or 3 practitioner in our thriving Nursery & Pre-school.

We are open from 8:00am – 6:00pm, 49 weeks a year.

The position is based on 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday, and on a shift basis.

If you are passionate about working with children and hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification alongside having an excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS please send us your CV. We are a friendly, independent nursery with an excellent reputation currently graded 'good' by ISI.

Interviews will be taking place over the next few weeks and the position with be offered subject to satisfactory references and DBS check

If successful, an enhanced DBS will be completed unless the applicant is already subscribed to the DBS update service (Proof required) and references will be required.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To support the day to day responsibility for the efficient running of the Nursery/Pre-school.
  • To ensure that developmental records for your key group are kept up to date.
  • To support your colleagues and work as part of a team in providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all children.
  • To assist in the development of an attractive stimulating range of equipment, activities and displays relevant to the age and needs of the children, which encourage independence, self-motivation and eagerness to learn.
  • Maintain confidentiality showing respect for children, parents and colleagues.
  • To ensure a high level of communication between staff and parents.
  • To ensure the highest standards of safety, hygiene and welfare whilst maintaining adequate supervision of the conduct of the children attending the setting.
  • To ensure policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To support the management team in striving to deliver an outstanding setting
  • To carryout observations, reports and reports, meet with parents and set targets at parents evening.
  • To ensure that as far as possible all sensible precautions are taken to ensure a safe and clean environment is provided for both children and staff.
  • To participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings and training so as to improve skills and knowledge and develop a positive attitude which enhances practice.
  • To work in partnership with parents, valuing their role as key figures in their child’s life, being non-judgmental and adhering.
  • To contribute to planning of child activities and ensure that activity plans are fully implemented.
  • Be a good role model for staff, showing a commitment to the Early years Management and an interest in developing good practice and implementing change.

You must:

- hold a level 3 or equivalent in childcare

- Have some work experience within a nursery environment

- Be confident and proactive in the role of a key person

- Possess excellent knowledge of the EYFS

- Fully understand safeguarding responsibilities

- Possess excellent communication and written skills

- Be passionate about providing the highest quality of childcare possible

- The ability to work on own initiative but also within a large team

Riverston School is a mixed, specialist SEND independent school with Nursery, Senior School and Sixth Form departments situated in Lee, south-east London.

Riverston School was founded in 1926 and has been family-owned since 1956. The school is housed in four adjacent Victorian houses. Recent refurbishments and upgrades have delivered a coffee shop, a sixth-form area and a centre for textiles, food technology and skills for life.

Riverston School’s main aims are: to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment for everyone; to offer a modern and varied curriculum that works for each individual student; and to equip pupils with a range of skills for their future life, encompassing the academic, social, physical, creative and moral skills everyone needs.

While the curriculum concentrates on traditional academic subjects, children’s physical and creative development is prioritised too. Students learn English, maths, history, geography, RE, languages, ICT, science and business studies, alongside drama, food technology, music, design and technology, art and choir. They also have the opportunity to take part in junior sports leadership awards and athletic challenges such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
