Nurture Teacher KS3

(To start September 2021 – temporary 1-year contract in first instance)

St Thomas à Becket Catholic Secondary School is excited to be looking for a full time teacher (on a temporary 1 year basis in the first instance) to join us in the new role of “Nurture Teacher” commencing in September 2021.

St Thomas à Becket Catholic Secondary School prides itself on the pastoral and nurturing care of its students and their families.  This exciting new role will be to support learning, deliver interventions and catch up programmes to small classes of students in KS3 who are working below their age expectation or who have gaps in their learning.

We are looking for a motivated teacher to work with our students to achieve their true potential in each subject.  Whilst the successful candidate will be primarily focusing on literacy and numeracy, in some cases they will provide intensive support across all the subjects, with materials provided by subject leaders.

Applicants must be qualified teachers (suitable for NQT) with a commitment to high levels of achievement for all pupils and also bring enthusiasm and imagination to learning.

St Thomas à Beckets is a vibrant 11-16 Catholic School which is academically, socially and culturally diverse. We have an outstanding record of pastoral provision and a sustained track record of strong KS4 outcomes across all abilities. We hope that every child is able to achieve their full potential as well as contributing to the wider mission of our school to fully realise their God-given talents, thereby being fully human and fully alive.

The school was founded by and is part of the Catholic Church. It is one of the formal mechanisms through which the Church’s educative mission is fulfilled and is to be conducted as a Catholic School in accordance with the canon law and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and in accordance with the Trust Deed of the Diocese of Leeds. The Head Teacher is the school’s leading professional.
