Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 7) required to work within the Therapy and Welfare Team at Meadow High School, in Uxbridge.

Salary: POB, points 34-38 (£39,138 - £43,058);
Hours: 36 hours per week, 43 weeks per year.

Meadow High School is a secondary school for pupils with learning difficulties who have a wide range of abilities and needs. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting our pupils towards the highest levels of independence and academic achievement possible and highest levels of independence in adult life.  Many of our pupils would benefit from a wide range of assistive technology to aid them in this and we are particularly interested in candidates who share this passion and interest.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with an interest in working with children and adolescents with special educational needs. The successful candidate will be working within an established Therapy and Welfare Team, within a SEN secondary school recently OFSTED rated as Good. You will be working with children and adolescents aged 11 - 19 years who have a wide variety of conditions including autistic spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, specific language disorders, respiratory, neurological and neuromuscular pathologies. 

This post provides an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist looking to consolidate and/or expand their knowledge and skills with children & adolescents as well as contributing to the continuing demand of an effective and high-quality service. 

You will be working alongside the Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to support the deployment of team members and service development. This role also involves conducting assessments, delivering individual and/or group based therapy and devising intervention programmes.  You will be expected to work closely with class based staff to ensure that pupil’s therapeutic needs are embedded in their day to day life by making recommendations and providing guidance to pupils, their families and teaching staff to enable pupils achieve their full potential.

You will need to have great communication skills, the ability to work flexibly and effectively across teams, supporting colleagues and pupils across the whole school and from external agencies.

The Band 7 OT will be supported by the Therapy and Welfare Lead and will need to arrange their own external clinical supervision for their professional development; this will be funded by the school.  You will also be required to provide clinical supervision to junior colleagues within the department.
