Job overview

Salary: £27,146 – £44,543 per annum, depending on experience (R5 Scp 27 – R8 Scp 54)

Hours:   Full time, term time only

Location: St Dominic’s School, Godalming GU8 4DX

St Dominic’s School is part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a specialist Trust with 12 Academies and 7 College Centres across London, Surrey and Sussex.

We are a special school in Surrey and provide education for pupils and students aged 7-19, typically with a primary diagnosis of Autism or social communication difficulties. Our school is located in the beautiful village of Hambledon, close to Witley, Milford, Guildford and Godalming. We have views of the Surrey hills and plenty of outdoor space, including access to the common and a Forest School site. Please visit https://stdominicsschool.org.uk/

Whilst we value the history of our site and main building, we are also in the process of modernising our environment and we have a number of exciting projects underway, including a refurbished therapy provision and a second Sensory Integration Therapy room.

At St Dominic’s School we believe that all pupils and students should leave our setting ready to ‘achieve ambitious goals and live life to the full’. Our therapists are integrated into the wider staff team and have created a bespoke Needs Led Curriculum that includes dedicated curriculum time to developing pupil and student social interaction and functional independence. We also have a strong emphasis on ensuring quality of life for both pupils and staff and are launching a comprehensive piece of work to ensure that emotional and mental wellbeing are at the heart of what we do.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and strongly motivated individual to join our experienced team providing intensive specialist support for pupils and students. We seek an Occupational Therapist who wants to develop their career, skills and knowledge in a specialist educational setting from Key Stage 2 to 5. Experience of working with children and young people with a range of needs including SpLD and Autism is desirable. You will have the opportunity to work alongside other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for learners. You will build rewarding relationships with the pupils and students you work with, as you become part of our close and caring community.

No two days are the same at St Dominic’s School and you will need creativity, perseverance, good teamworking skills and a sense of fun.

In return, we offer excellent support from colleagues and staff, commitment to CPD, and access to internal and external training.

If you believe you can help our learners to fulfil their potential at school, at home and in their communities and are looking for a fresh challenge, then this role may be just what you are looking for.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Emily Rackstraw, Head of Therapy at erackstraw@stdominicsschool.org.uk
