Vacancy for an Office Administration Assistant

Are you a proactive, organised and experienced administrator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure? We are looking to appoint an Office Administration Assistant to join our friendly, welcoming and busy team in providing the highest quality administrative service to our children, their parents and our school staff.

Brookwood Primary School is a one-form entry school at the heart of a close village community. The school is four miles from Woking, with a mainline station (Waterloo to Southampton line) a two minute walk from the school. Our children are largely from Brookwood or nearby Knaphill, or from Pirbright Army Camp which is located about a mile away. We are a friendly and community-oriented school, situated in beautiful grounds which enable us to offer a variety of opportunities to enhance our children’s experiences and learning.

We are seeking someone who:

· is confident, friendly and professional, with experience of working with a range of stakeholders including children, parents, contractors and external agencies;

· has excellent literacy skills and is a strong communicator, both in writing and verbally;

· has strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative and remain calm under pressure;

· is experienced in using a range of IT software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher;

· is familiar with school database packages and financial software - specifically SIMS, Tucasi and PS Financials - or demonstrates a willingness and ability to learn these;

· is a good team player, with a proactive attitude and a good sense of humour.

We can offer:

· the opportunity to join a small, friendly and community-oriented school with a strong team ethos;

· a varied and interesting role where you will be highly valued and can make a tangible difference;

· well-behaved, polite and engaging children;

· support from senior leaders and colleagues;

· training and development opportunities to further enhance your practice; and

· the potential for future career development pathways through our membership of the Bourne Education Trust.

We would encourage you to come and visit our school and see what we can offer. Please contact Mrs Wilkins on 01483 473315 to arrange a convenient date and time.

Hours of work: 8:30am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (28 hours per week for 39 weeks)

Interviews will take place week commencing 10th July.

About Brookwood Primary School

Brookwood Primary School is a friendly, welcoming, inclusive school judged Good by Ofsted in November 2015.  With around 200 pupils on roll, we create a lively, stimulating and caring environment in which everyone is valued as an individual.  Our expectations are high, encouraging everyone to be the best they can be.

At the heart of our school is a beautiful Edwardian building with many of its original features preserved.  This houses two classrooms and a range of offices and other teaching spaces including a huge library.  This has been added to over the years with the latest addition being a beautiful purpose-built Sure Start Children Centre.  We have extensive, wooded grounds which include a wildlife pond, activity trails, sand pits, seating, a large sports field, a playground with netball court and an allotment.  The grounds have been developed by the Gardening/Eco-club to include wildlife friendly areas with habitats created for insect houses.  We now run a Forest School programme.

The pupils in school mainly live either in Brookwood, nearby Knaphill or live in military housing attached to the Pirbright Camp.  This creates an enriching diversity of background, experience, outlook, language and ethnicity.  What all pupils have in common is that, once in school, they are Brookwood children and are fiercely proud of it!

We are equally proud to have an Eco-School Green Flag which acknowledges our success at managing our buildings and grounds in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.  We also hold a Sing Up Gold Award reflecting our passion for music in school, an enhanced Healthy Schools Award and the prestigious Silver Sainsbury's Schools Games Mark award.

Our Aims

  • We nurture, develop and extend the skills and talents of individuals to meet their full potential
  • We create a happy, safe and stimulating environment in which pupils and adults feel valued and supported
  • We value every person as an individual, praising their efforts, achievements and contributions to school life
  • We develop independence, self-confidence and self-motivation
  • We are a community of active learners with a love of learning
  • We take pride in our achievements
  • We are encouraged to think, challenge, question and share ideas
  • Our curriculum enriches, motivates and challenges and develops the knowledge, skills and attitudes our learners need to lead productive lives as local, national and global citizens
  • We behave appropriately, developing our own sense of self-respect and importance, taking responsibility for our own actions
  • We value fairness, honesty and integrity
  • We promote partnership with all connected to our school
  • We give every child an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of school life, to express and explore imaginative and creative skills
  • Our pupils are aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the need and enjoyment of exercise
  • We strive to help our pupils live together in a community and to develop respect for others and their environment
