As the Harris ITE provision grows, we are looking to hire a committed and confident Office Manager to lead our administrative team who support the Harris Initial Teacher Education tutor team, trainees, ECTs, Future Teaching Scholars (FTS) and Assessment Only (AO).

HITE operates out of Harris Academy Bermondsey. You will be based in this location to provide an outstanding level of support of the HITE staff and trainee teachers. There may occasionally be times where HITE events take you to other locations.

HITE offers outstanding Initial Teacher Training (ITT) to graduates and career changers joining the teaching profession. Trainee teachers will have access to invaluable training, school and classroom experience to equip them with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to become an excellent teacher. HITE also offers Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and support to NQTs across our academies.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership and management of the administration of areas of ITE including School Direct, Future Teaching Scholars (FTS), ECT transition, Internships and new pathway of Apprenticeship Teachers
  • Ensure the administrative links between HITE are efficient with FTS, Now Teach and Kingston University
  • Responsible for the administration of Assessment Only candidates to gain QTS;
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the teacher training process for all trainees and mentors, trainee alumni including any new teacher training initiatives
  • Responsible for ensure clear lines of communication and responses to enquiries from trainee teachers; DfE Apply and Academy HR SD administration; record-keeping of trainees, host academies, mentors and potential applicants, and liaising with all stakeholders and all external parties including university links, DfE and Ofsted, to support Harris trainee teachers in working towards and being awarded QTS/PGCE
  • Responsible for the training of new team members and ensuring that current team members are kept up to date with any HITE or Federation related changes
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all electronic and paper records related to recruitment, social media and IT support
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all electronic and paper records related to HR, including the SCR
  • Responsible for upkeep of IT equipment and responding to IT tickets for the ITE tutor and administration teams
  • Excellent communication with all stakeholders regarding ITE training, assessment and support
  • Implementation of the School Direct/ITE policies and process in line with DfE requirements as laid out in the ITT Criteria, liaising with Federation staff as required and supporting in ensuring the Academy ITE team is compliant in all areas
  • Manage applicant administration
  • To exercise complete discretion when dealing with issues of confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Oversee the implementation of any new initiatives to Harris Initial Teacher Education
  • Upholding a positive office environment and ensure that all Administrators are supported in their role
  • Ensure creativity is used by all of the administration team in all aspects of their roles – the need for a full, rounded knowledge of all aspects of ITE processes is essential alongside innovative responses with a solution focus to any problems that are raised
  • Use creative, innovative thinking to keep the HITE brand being marketed as an outstanding provider amongst the field
  • To deputise for the ITE Business Manager if they are absent

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above
  • Other relevant Level 3 qualifications
  • Training and proficiency in the use of a variety of ICT packages, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient in data entry, management and extraction from MIS systems 
  • At least a year working in school or educational establishment
  • Experience of working to targets and deadlines
  • Experience of developing admin policies, processes and procedures
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to communicate exceptionally well with trainees, SLT as well as other stakeholders in the organisation
  • Ability to manage own workload and on own initiatives
  • Ability to develop quality control systems
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with a wide range of people, from trainees, governors, staff and outside agencies
