Job overview

We are looking for an On Call After School Care Worker for our after-school care program. This position is on call and requires availability from Monday to Thursday 2:30pm-6:00pm and on Friday from 12.30pm-4pm.

What will you do on a day-to-day basis?    

  • Oversee students    
  • Taking care of students    
  • Exchanging information about children and activities with colleagues and parents    
  • Keep spaces and equipment ready for use 


Responsibilities 

  • Supervising children, both in groups and individually and creating a situation within the group in which children feel safe and encouraged    
  • Overseeing children in the daily activities    
  • Taking care of the daily care needs of the children    
  • Care for Amity International School Amsterdam children directly from school   
  • Keeping track of the development of children and reporting/informing the coordinator about this    
  • Ensuring good contact with parents/care takers and informing about specific points for attention and specifics of the children cared for    
  • Agree with the coordinator about the daily schedule    
  • Participate in work meetings    
  • Carrying out light household activities in the group 


The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:      

  • Child care qualifications (at least SPW 3 or comparable English equivalent CACHE level 2 or higher)    
  • Socially capable, enthusiastic, engaging, and vibrant personality    
  • Excellent English oral expression skills    
  • Responsible, initiative, flexible and independent    
  • Experience with working with children eg kinderdagverblijf, summer camps, after school activities, school teaching assistant or substitute teacher    
  • Preferably with an area of interest such as art, sports   
  • Pedagogical knowledge   
  • Knowledge of and insight into group dynamic processes   
  • Knowledge of the applicable hygiene and safety requirements   
  • Knowledge of a child's developmental stage
