Outwood Academy Redcar has been part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust since October 2017 and is an exceptional place to build your future. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven professional to join our Family of Schools. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’. 

Our one-to-one tutors are often, but not always qualified teachers, usually in English, who may have had a career break or who are looking for a position with flexibility. One-to-one tutors are employed on a part time, casual basis and hours can be negotiated at interview. 

We welcome applications from people who:

  • hold qualified teacher status and have experience teaching at KS4
  • have retired from mainstream English teaching but would like to continue working with GCSE students on a one to one/small group basis
  • are looking to return to teaching English 
  • hold an AS/A-level English
  • are able to demonstrate that they can work with individual students to progress their learning in English
  • have experience as an English GCSE examiner (any exam boards, but preferably for AQA); or
  • have subject specific knowledge of English at Key stage 4 and the GCSE exam requirements

Rate of pay:

  • £30.62 per hour - those with Qualified Teacher Status
  • £22.05 - those with a relevant degree but no Qualified Teacher Status
  • £15.26 - those with no degree or Qualified Teacher Status
