Job overview
You might just have found the perfect school…
We are seeking to appoint a part-time One-to-One Learning Support Assistant for 20hrs per week (0.49FTE) to support a Y3 pupil with specific SEND support needs who has been awarded EHCP funding from the local authority.
Norfolk House School is a leading, co-educational, preparatory school and nursery in Muswell Hill, North London, for children aged 2-11. The school takes great pride in our happy and warm environment, where each and every pupil is valued and nurtured. With small class sizes and a well-resourced school, you will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team who are committed and passionate about educating children.
Our pupils are our most powerful advertisement - they are polite, well-mannered, and are excited and engaged learners. We have imaginative, creative, and enthusiastic children and, as a Learning Support Assistant, you will be integral in helping to make our school an inspiring setting to learn in.
You may be an experienced T.A. or someone who is new to education. We are looking for the ability to connect with children, excellent interpersonal skills and the potential to make a powerful positive impact on one particular pupil's first year of formal schooling.
At Norfolk House School we offer:
- A nurturing and all-round academic school, unique in its context
- Motivated, well-rounded and excited children, who are eager to learn
- Excellent professional development opportunities within the school, through Bellevue Education and the Independent Schools Association
- A team of motivated, committed and talented staff
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant who will:
- Be committed to supporting a specific Y3 pupil, as well as assisting the Junior Prep team and being part of their efforts to provide an excellent education to pupils;
- Maintaining positive communication and developing a purposeful, positive working relationship with the parents of the pupil(s) they will be supporting
- Enjoy working in a busy and fast-paced environment;
- Work effectively as part of a team;
- Have previous experience working in a school (although this is not essential);
- Be flexible, well organised and able to adapt to changing needs;
- Have good verbal and written English
- Hold a commitment to safeguarding and equalities
We offer staff the opportunity to join the school’s pension scheme and provide employees with access to the Perkbox discount scheme, which provides exclusive offers at major UK retailers. We also provide free breakfast and lunch for all staff.

About Norfolk House School
Norfolk House School is a leading London Preparatory School for boys and girls aged 4 -11.
The school takes great pride in its happy and warm environment, where each and every pupil is valued and supported. Pupils at Norfolk House are nurtured and guided through school life; we aim to stimulate and inspire our children and to develop their interests.
We ensure our curriculum is interesting and stimulating as well as broad and balanced. We want our pupils to be excited about lessons and fully engaged in all of school life. We strive to offer personalisation to our learning programmes; our pupils are involved in their own learning and our older children conference regularly with their teachers to set realistic learning targets. Self and peer evaluation of work are both well embedded in our curriculum and our pupils are always aware of what they need to do to achieve next steps, and are well supported in this.
