The college is a vibrant, inclusive community with over 2000 students from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds, all united in their enthusiasm for learning.

We require a part-time, one-to-one personal care assistant to start as soon as possible to provide support to an ambitious and highly capable female student requiring specialist support whilst enrolled at the College. This is a fixed term position which is due to end 31 August 2025 (or for the duration of the student’s enrolment).

The post holder will support one student who has a diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (type 2), a neuromuscular degenerative condition that results in general muscle weakness, poor head control, and scoliosis. The post holder will play a vital role in assisting the learning and personal development of the student by providing personal care, including feeding and manual handling, to enable her to make the best use of the educational opportunities available to her. Due to the personal care required for the female student, there is a requirement for the appointed candidate to be female.

The College is fully committed to supporting all members of staff through staff development and in-service training.

This is a fixed term, part-time (8 hours per week), term-time only post subject to the conditions of service handbook of the Sixth Form Colleges Association. Salary will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Association support staff pay scale 3 - 7 which is currently £3660.88 – £3889.03 per annum for term-time only, based on 8 hours per week. Working hours would be in the middle of the day on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for this academic year. The working days could change in September based on the students timetable.

Full requirements for the role can be found in the attached job description and person specification or from the college: email hr@kedst.ac.uk; or access information via the college website: www.kedst.ac.uk.

Please note that CVs cannot be accepted. Applications must be sent electronically in the original format (Word document).

King Edward VI College believes that the requirement for the appointed candidate to be female is an occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 and is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim in all the circumstances

King Edward VI College, Stourbridge is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. The College celebrates diversity and aims to recruit a diverse range of staff.
