We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and solution focused Operational SENDCo to join the SEND Team at Newquay Tretherras. This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate play a vital role in implementing the current SEND strategy. As an integral member of the team, key duties will include identifying and supporting students who are experiencing barriers to learning, creating Student Passports and leading Passport Review meetings periodically throughout the year. The successful candidate will line manage a team of Teaching Assistants and will be responsible for their deployment. Other duties include supporting students with an EHCP and those identified as SEN Support through key transition points.  If you are passionate and enthusiastic about working with fantastic young people, we would love to hear from you.

This is an exciting time to join our large and dynamic Trust, which is responsible for educating learners across four secondary schools, one junior school and nine primary schools.  There are extensive opportunities to work collaboratively with experienced professionals across the Trust with unparalleled CPD and career development prospects for all.  Cornwall has a hugely diverse landscape with nearly a third of the county designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Cornwall is almost completely surrounded by sea with dramatic coastline, captivating fishing harbours, spectacular sandy beaches and a rich cultural heritage.

WELCOME TO NEWQUAY TRETHERRAS

You will always be guaranteed a warm welcome at Newquay Tretherras, an inspiring and vibrant school at the heart of the Newquay community.  Tretherras has a forty year history of providing education of the highest quality in an inspirational setting on the North Cornish coast.

Tretherras students are a pleasure to teach and learn with.  They know that a high quality education is important for their life chances and they take full advantage of the incredible range of opportunities and facilities offered to them at school, both within and beyond the classroom.

The Board of Directors, together with the Leadership Team, are committed and ambitious for every single young person.  Our talented and specialist staff don’t just go the extra mile, they go the extra hundred miles for the students in their care!  We are passionately dedicated to ensuring students succeed in every possible way, whatever their talents or ambitions.

Our relationships and ethos at Tretherras are inclusive and special:  we are a family in which everyone matters.  It is, without doubt, a very happy place to be and morale is extremely high across the whole academy.

Students are offered a vast array of opportunities at Tretherras to grow and develop into responsible, well rounded individuals.  We aim to equip all our young people with the necessary confidence and aspiration to challenge themselves, and us, to achieve the highest standards possible.

At Tretherras, we offer students an inclusive and extensive curriculum which offers aspirational opportunities for all to succeed.  To achieve this, we have strong and caring people and structures in place to support students pastorally and academically every step of the way.

Our strong belief is that Tretherras is a place where dreams can come true.  We are an inspirational learning community, working together to support our students and staff to become the best that they can be.

As an academy that achieves examination results that are consistently and significantly above national averages, we know it is the quality of our relationships with parents, staff and students and our aspirational and inclusive ethos, which is the key to this success.  Quite simply, we put every one of our students at the centre of everything we do.

We look forward to receiving applications from candidates who share our ethos and who want to become part of our Newquay Tretherras 'family' to ensure that our students are inspired, achieve remarkable things and become the best they can possibly be at Tretherras.

Ms G Harries,
