Coxlease School are recruiting for a P16 Teaching Assistant at The Skills Centre in New Milton

We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed P16 Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will work alongside the P16 teacher’s where we currently offer BTEC’s in Hospitality and Vocational Studies alongside Functional Skills in Maths and English. The successful candidate will support students with their work, with a focus on Preparation for Adulthood. Support will be required to promote positive behaviour while establishing good relationships with students, acting as a role model whilst responding to individual needs.  There may be a need at times to support students at local colleges as part of their individualised timetables.

In our latest Ofsted report from January 2022, we were judged as 'good' overall, and 'outstanding' in the areas of personal development, behaviour and attitudes and our post-16 provision. 

We are proud of our excellent reputation for providing highly effective education, care, therapy, welfare and support for up to 107 pupils aged 5 to 19 years old who have difficulties regulating their emotional, social and mental health needs. They may also have other complex needs often associated with autistic spectrum conditions.

The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting in a classroom setting, have a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) which is appropriate to the teaching and learning environment of learners and young adults, along with the following characteristics:


Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged. 


Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.


Organisation – Strong organisational skills are important to support the class teacher and young people with educational activities 


Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.


Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
