New Horizons are seeking a PA for the Executive Head Teacher to start as soon as possible.  The post involves a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion, working directly to the Executive Head Teacher and providing all administrative support as well as filtering communication and organising the Executive Head Teacher’s diary.  The post also involves some administrative support to the Business Manager and liaison with school leaders, governors and Trust colleagues.  

The hours for the post have some flexibility in that they may be over either 4 or 5 days by agreement with the successful candidate.  The post is for 25 hours per week, term time only with one week additional outside of the term.  Hours may be 9.00 – 2.30 over 5 days or 8.45-3.30 over 4 days inclusive of 30 minutes lunchbreak each day.  For an application form, please contact Julie Garside (Business Manager julie.garside@newhorizonsfederation.org.uk) or for a discussion, please contact Jo Southby, Executive Head Teacher via email jo.southby@newhorizonsfederation.org.uk  

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.

School Context

Horizons Academy Bexley provides high quality education and support to pupils in Key Stages 1-4, who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school. We also provide a short-term provision at our Satellite centre for learners, who are unable to attend school because of a medical need.

We focus on early intervention, offering a range of services from short term respite to longer term education for students in KS4.

Our aim in KS1 – 3 is to re-integrate the learners back into a mainstream or specialist school via our ‘Refocus programme’. We work closely with external agencies and our partner schools to identify the needs of the child, develop the child’s ability to learn, so that each learner feels confident about being in the classroom.
