35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year - 8.30am - 4.00pm

Grade: SO1, point 29-31

Salary: £27,801 - £29,517 pro rata (£22,963 - £24,381 per annum, actual salary)


We are a friendly school (which is part of the Hornchurch Academy Trust) and we are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably experienced person to work as PA to Executive Headteacher of the Hornchurch Academy Trust and Headteacher at Scargill Junior School (Mrs A Ireland).

The main purpose of the Headteacher's PA is to provide effective and efficient administration to support the strategic aims and day-to-day operation of the Headteacher's office. The postholder must demonstrate resilience, confidentiality and be calm under pressure. A good sense of humour is prerequisite to the role.

The indiviual scope of duties and emphasis on particular parts of this job description may vary according to the needs of the school.

The Headteacher's PA supports management, supervision and provision of the school support services. These may cover:

  • Administrative systems, procedures and services
  • Personnel administration
  • Curriculum and administrative ICT systems
  • Health and Safety
  • Support to the Academy and its committees and sub committees as necessary
  • Advice on compliance with legislation and guidance, for example Data Protection, Freedom of Information Act, School Governance, DFE

The Headteacher's PA is facilitator for the management, supervision and provision of the day-to-day personnel and school administration which includes the school office and the interface with school stakeholders and the public. These services include services that are delivered directly by staff working at the school and services that are supplied by the Hornchurch Academy Trust and local education authority and commerical providers under contract or service level agreements.

The successful applicant must be able to work flexibly and be able to prioritise tasks, whilst dealing with pupils, parents, staff and visitior queries.

Essential

- Good communication skills and ability to prioritise tasks and keep to deadlines

- A friendly and polite manner

- Good organisational skills

- Experience of Microsoft Word and Excel

- Experience of dealing with confidential matters

Desirable

- Previous school experience
