Highfields School are seeking to appoint an organised PA / Clerk to Governors to work alongside the Headteacher.

This exciting role will offer a great deal of variety and opportunity to develop and enhance your skills, we offer excellent training opportunities as well as a friendly and supportive working environment. The ability to work as part of a team is essential, as are excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a sound knowledge of IT and the ability to work confidently under pressure.

You will be confident liaising with staff, students, parents, governors and outside agencies, and will be friendly and approachable as well as professional at all times. The post holder should be willing to work flexibly across a range of functions. Maintaining confidentiality at all times will be essential.

We are a vibrant, popular school and have a strong partnership with the community and local schools. Highfields is situated in Matlock, the county town of Derbyshire, on the south-eastern edge of the Peak District. It is within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.

Highfields School is a  vibrant, popular, mixed, non-denominational, mainstream secondary school in Matlock, Derbyshire. It caters to students aged 11 to 18 and has approximately 1,200 students including 250 at post 16.   Our students are well-motivated and achieve good results. We were judged as a good school by Ofsted in May 2017.  Highfields is situated in Matlock, the county town of Derbyshire, on the south eastern edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park. It is within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.

Highfields School was founded in 1982 when Ernest Bailey’s Grammar School and Charles White Secondary Modern School merged. It is known for performing arts. The school is located on two sites that are 1.8 miles apart: one for the lower school (Years 7-8) and one for the upper school (Years 9-11 and the sixth form).

Teachers encourage students to become active citizens in their community.  

The secondary school specialises in performing arts, but offers a broad and balanced curriculum that covers core subjects such as English, maths, science, philosophy and RE, and PE. Extra-curricular activities are also considered important and a wide variety of clubs and teams explore arts and sports.
