The successful candidate must be able to work to a highly professional and organised standard.  The successful applicant will also have a genuine interest in school governance, ensuring they keep abreast with current educational developments and legislation affecting the school or those across the Trust.

Working with Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School: OFSTED awarded the school an outstanding grade in every category in our most recent inspection, commenting that “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”

In 2012 the School was designated one of the first 100 National Teaching Schools. It is also a National Support School. We are also the regional Maths Hub lead. These factors ensure exceptional career development opportunities.

Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021.  The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

About Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School

Working with us: Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School was founded in 1701 in order to provide an education to young men who would go on to work at the famous Chatham Dockyard. More than 300 years later we still pride ourselves on providing a superb academic education alongside an unparalleled range of opportunities for personal growth and character development. Awarded ‘outstanding’ in our last Ofsted, the comment that stands out to us is,  “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”

In 2012 the School became one of the first 100 National Teaching Schools and in 2021 was successful in converting this into becoming one of the first 35 National Teaching School Hubs. Alongside our work as a National Support School, our position in Leigh Academies Trust and as the lead school in the Kent and Medway Maths Hub the school is in unrivalled position to offer superb support and training to any new member of staff, regardless of their role, or their experience.
