Stonyhurst College is a successful Roman Catholic Independent Boarding and Day School, with an excellent national and international reputation. 

A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Personal Assistant to the Senior Deputy Head.

This is an important role within the administrative structure and its core purpose will be to provide administrative support for the Senior Deputy Head, being the designated Deputy to the Headmaster. This post would suit a proactive, tenacious, organised administrator who is equally confident with self-directed and autonomous work as with directed multi-tasking and project management.

The standard working week will be 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday, with a half hour lunch break, however this is subject to negotiation should a different working pattern be required. There may be occasions when there will be the need for flexibility in respect of the working hours in the case of school events. 

  • This is a full-time role
  • The standard working week would be 37.5 hours per week (full time is 37.5 hours per week)
  • The role would be Monday – Friday inclusive 8am – 4pm with a half hour lunch break
  • The postholder would work throughout the normal College terms, including Inset (CPD) Days
  • Bank Holidays which fall within term time are normal working days (usually only one per year)The salary for the post will be based on £26,000-£30,000 per annum

Stonyhurst College is the UK’s leading Catholic co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-18. Boarding is from the age of 7.

At the College, there are approximately 498 pupils aged 13-18, two thirds of whom are boarders.  At Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall, the adjacent dedicated preparatory school, there are around 240 pupils aged 3-13.  Stonyhurst is set in stunning countryside, near the Ribble and Hodder rivers and the beautiful Trough of Bowland. Manchester is only about an hour away by road or rail. The market town of Clitheroe is four miles away,  and we are 12 miles from the city of Preston. Stonyhurst has a fascinating heritage, being the oldest continuously active Jesuit school in the world.

It was founded in St Omer, Northern France (then the Spanish Netherlands), in 1593, and moved to its present site in Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley in 1794. Throughout the years of religious

persecution in England,  Stonyhurst educated the boys of the English Catholic aristocracy and gentry.

The College’s Ignatian mission and identity,  and its sense of family, set Stonyhurst apart from other schools. Pupils are urged to do as much as they can (Quant Je Puis) for other people following the example of Jesus Christ and following in the spirit and charism of the Jesuits.
