Are you passionate about making a difference to families in need of support? Do you have knowledge of the social and emotional factors that affect a child’s capacity to learn? If so we would welcome you to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team at Harnham Junior School.
Harnham Junior School’s Governing Body is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed Parent Support Advisor.
The role of Parent Support Advisor is to address underachievement in children by supporting parents and carers with the range of difficulties they may be experiencing.
This will be done by working in partnership with parents, carers, pupils and other agencies in a school context to enable pupils (particularly the most disadvantaged and vulnerable) to have full access to educational opportunities and overcome barriers to learning and participation.
You will be an experienced practitioner in working with parents and young children. You will possess effective communication skills, be well organised, have the ability to prioritise workloads and work on your own initiative, and be able to deal with difficult situations and/or individuals in a calm and confident manner.
The person we are looking for will be, either an experienced Parent Support Advisor or have experience working in a similar field with children and families and be supportive of our Vision, which is based on each child’s ability to be an independent engaged learner.
We look for:
• Experience within the field of education, social services/welfare or the voluntary sector.
• Awareness of the legislation affecting school attendance requirements.
• Experience and understanding of delivering individual or group based support
• Experience and understanding of children within their context.
• A sound knowledge of the available support services and referral routes available
We offer you:
• Receptive, motivated and probably the best families anywhere
• A vibrant team environment in which you will receive training, trust and responsibility
• A proven, supportive, professional development environment in which we all learn and progress
Visits to our school are warmly welcomed, please contact Mr Coles (the Headteacher) to arrange a visit. Closing date for applications is at noon on Friday 7th July 2017.
Please apply electronically, including email addresses of referees. The School is committed to equality of opportunity. All applicants will be selected on their merits.
Harnham C. of E. Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be subject to a full Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed.
