Watling View is a Good (Ofsted, March 2020) maintained special school for children and young people aged 3-19 with severe and profound learning needs including autism such as complex physical disabilities, high health needs, and sensory impairments and associated communication and learning needs. This position is for maternity cover only. The position will terminate when the existing post holder returns to work after their maternity leave of up to 12 months. We are looking for a part time class teacher who:

Watling View is a 2-19 maintained special school in St Albans, in the county of Hertfordshire. The school caters for up to 92 pupils, with a wide range of complex and profound learning difficulties. These include severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, as well as severe developmental delay.

Teachers and support staff are well qualified in the forefront of curriculum delivery for children with Special Educational Needs. Staff work closely with specialist medical staff, including Speech and language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and pediatric nurses and doctors. The school also employs a Music Therapist whose expertise provides significant support to children and their parents in the exploration of communication and development in a safe, protective environment. We have specialist teachers in the area of PE, Swimming, Horticulture and Food Technology. Many staff are trained in rebound therapy.
