Part time sessional Science Teacher

Abbey College Manchester was founded in 1990 and over the past thirty years has become one of the leading providers of independent sixth form education in Greater Manchester. There are normally about 200-220 students in the college. Within this around 40% are from the Manchester area with the remainder coming from 35 different countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.  We are a dynamic, exciting college, situated in the heart of Manchester providing high quality, flexible GCSE, A Level, International Foundation, Combined Studies and the Academic Studies with Football or Basketball Training programmes.  In response to the lockdown we developed a remote teaching programme which catered for both remote and face to face teaching and in January 2021 ‘Abbey College Manchester on-line revision school’ was launched as a new initiative.

We have opportunities for teachers to join our  Science Department with effect from September 2021.  The primary responsibility is for the effective delivery of the curriculum to students and to ensure that students realise their full potential in the subject area. The teacher must be able to deliver one of the combinations of the subjects set out below to be considered for the roles:

1. GCSE Physics and Chemistry GCSE for face to face teaching in the college (ability to deliver GCSE Biology welcomed but not essential)

2. GCSE and A-level Physics for the on-line revision school

3. GCSE and A-level Biology for the on-line revision school

The Alpha Plus Group is the parent company of Abbey College Manchester and nineteen other schools. It was founded in 1931 under the name Davies, Laing and Dick. The schools and colleges within the group have developed a longstanding reputation for delivering premium quality education.
