Job overview

Do you wish to join an aspirational, collaborative and connected department which is improving the life chances of all pupils?

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of mathematicians?

You, like us, will share our belief in the highest standards of academic attainment in a comprehensive setting. We are therefore seeking to recruit an inspirational, professional and highly skilled part- time teacher of A Level Mathematics. You will have experience of delivering lessons to a consistently high standard and you will have a proven track record of excellent outcomes at A level.

The Mathematics Department is the largest recruiter of sixth form and a significant number pursue studies in mathematics and further mathematics. Pupils enjoy the study of this subject across all key stages and we run a wide range of extra-curricular activities. At GCSE we provide a personalised programme of study and we enrich pupils’ love of mathematics through the delivery of additional qualifications including further mathematics and statistics.

GCSE and A level outcomes are above national averages, with a particularly impressive number achieving grade 7 and above at GCSE.

"You are ambitious for the pupils at the school. You are proud of their achievements and strive to ensure they do the best they can." OFSTED 2017

“Leaders have designed the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities. The most able pupils sit GCSE examinations early and, if they meet their target early, can start A Level courses in Year 11”. OFSTED 2017

“The progress of students in the school has improved rapidly since it gained academy status and students’ overall achievement is good.” OFSTED 2013

Westminster City School is a successful 11-18 boys’ Christian non -denominational comprehensive academy with a mixed sixth form. Ours is a lively and vibrant learning community situated in the heart of central London with all the challenges and advantages of an inner city school. The school was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in early 2013 with its curriculum and governance judged to be ‘Outstanding’. In 2017 OFSTED judged the school as continuing to be "Good". We are not complacent and are pro-active in our ambition to become recognised as an “Outstanding” school and standards have improved considerably since that judgement.

We believe in developing our staff and have a dynamic and supportive management team and an effective CPD programme which includes a regular teaching and learning forum. We welcome applications from experienced teachers and those aspiring to middle leadership.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS.
