Leicester High School for Girls is an independent selective school for girls from 3 to 18. The ethnic mix of the school accurately reflects the city and public examination results are consistently the best in the city, and amongst the best in the county. 

We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic, inspirational and highly motivated individual who can lead a talented, well-resourced and forward-thinking department. Our examination results are excellent and GCSE and A Level Geography are offered in school. 

You will be part of a strong team of colleagues who teach across the age and ability range throughout the school.  Your passion for your subject will be clear to the students and you will have an ability to build, develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all students, parents and colleagues alike.

Leicester High School is a well established day school for girls  located on a beautiful site, near to Leicester racecourse. The School has been based on this site for over 100 years, close to the shops and restaurants of leafy Stoneygate. Our location is well connected with excellent road links and just two miles from Leicester train station. 

Founded in 1906 as Portland House School, we now comprises a Junior Department of approximately 100 girls (3-9 years) and a Senior School of approximately 250 girls (10-18) sited on the same campus.

Our small size means everyone is someone at LHS and we pride ourselves on our family feel. We specialise in bringing out the very best in girls aged 3 to 18 and our School philosophy of Education, Confidence and Opportunity is key to all we do, from our Early Years to our outstanding Sixth Form.

The Headmaster is responsible for both the Junior Department and Senior School.  The staff are well-qualified specialists and the School is renowned for both its academic excellence and extra-curricular programme.
