Pastoral Assistant

Grade SO1. Actual starting salary £22,291 - £23,783 dependent on length of service.

37 hpw plus attendance at Year group events including Parents’ evenings as required (term time only + 5 days). Permanent subject to a 6 month probationary period.

We are seeking to recruit a hard working professional to join the 2017-18 Year 8 pastoral team in providing outstanding pastoral care, support and guidance. Each year group is overseen by an Assistant Principal and two Student Performance Leaders. The appointed colleague will progress with the year group each subsequent academic year. This role is an incredibly important one; the success of any year group is undoubtedly underpinned by the effectiveness and impact of the year group’s pastoral team.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of pastoral support strategies. Above all any applicant must be passionate about ensuring our students receive outstanding pastoral care and have a mind-set of believing anything is possible. As part of this full time, non-teaching role you will work within the inclusion team supporting students who have specific needs in helping to address these, for example, the successful applicant may run group work sessions regarding Anger Management or Building Emotional Resilience. Effective engagement with parents and carers is an important part of this role so applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to form positive relationships with a range of stakeholders and the ability to work flexibly within a team to meet the needs of all students.

Judged Outstanding for the first time in 2009 and re-designated as Outstanding in every Ofsted category in May 2013 we have a track record of excellence both in terms of student outcomes and professional development. Working within the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust led by Sir John Townsley we often work collaboratively and the successful candidate will benefit from Outstanding CPD and support which is personalised to your particular needs and experience.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for any candidate who is eager to become part of an organisation that seeks to secure the very highest educational standards for students. If you are excited about the prospect of this rare opportunity we would be delighted to hear from you.

An application pack which provides further details of the role is available to download directly from our website at www.tgat.org.uk/jobs, by email to recruitment@morley.leeds.sch.uk. Please note if you submit an electronic application we will not require a hard copy. CVs are not accepted.

Recently accredited as a World Class School The Morley Academy is one of only 48 schools in the country to have the outcomes, attitudes and skills-sets of the student body recognised in this way.  We are extremely proud of this award and feel it captures our vision and ethos in a poignant manner.

We are a humble organisation that does not rest on its laurels.  We are always keen to listen and learn and we are eager to work in partnership with students and parents, carers and governors to continue to ensure our provision is the best it can possibly be.  As the founding member of the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust we benefit from expert partnership networks which provide a rich climate for discussion, debate, moderation and the sharing of resources.  Furthermore through the academy’s SCITT we benefit from working alongside and supporting the development of professionals new to teaching; we recognise the advantages that this offers and relish the opportunity to work collaboratively.
