We are seeking to appoint a Pastoral Assistant to work with our Heads of House to support our pupils on report, investigate behaviour incidents and contribute to, and maintain a calm and orderly environment within the school.
As part of this, you will help support the school’s back on track systems and contact parents and arrange meetings on behalf of staff. You will also supervise pupils as they move around the building during the day and at break and lunch times to make sure everyone has a good time and that no one is getting left out or gets into trouble. If you are not already a fully Qualified First Aider, we will arrange training for you, and you will provide First Aid where required.
You will be working 36 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year (ie term-time, plus one week’s inset days or twilight equivalents), with a 30 minute unpaid daily break, which needs to be taken outside of the core student lunch periods. For this coming Academic Year, your hours in school are likely to be: 8.10am-3.50pm Mon-Thurs; and 8.10am-4pm Fri.
Previous postholders have gone on to undertake Teacher Training, having gained additional valuable experience working in a school environment with us, although such a motivation is not a requirement.
You will share our ambition to provide a great educational experience for all of our students and it is also crucial that you will be aligned with the culture and values of the school, so please read our information on Cultural Fit carefully to ensure you are clear that we are the kind of organisation you wish to be a part of.
Stratford School Academy is an inclusive, mixed, community school characterised by high expectations, a rigorous academic curriculum and caring pastoral systems. We firmly believe that every student can excel and we seek to provide an inspirational learning journey that maximises student progress. The key pillars of this are excellent behaviour based on mutual respect, great teaching, a wide range of engaging activities beyond the classroom and really knowing and valuing every child. This means our students are safe and cared for, follow an academic curriculum and are supported to achieve the best of their potential in both their GCSEs and in developing their wider talents, character and sense of civic duty. This is all underpinned by our core values of respect, excellence and responsibility.
Stratford School Academy has been rebuilt and redeveloped through the Priority Schools Building Programme recently. We now have two new buildings, each for 750 students situated on separate sites but close to one another. The two sites operate as parallel ‘mini schools’ educating students from Year 7 to 11.
You have the chance to join us at an exciting time as we implement improvements which will enhance the educational experience of our students. We are a highly aspirational school but we also really prioritise staff wellbeing.
Stratford School Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to successful completion of Safer Recruitment checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
