Avanti Fields School is a new all-through school which welcomed the first intake of Year 7 students in September 2018. The school is rapidly expanding and will grow year by year to a full cohort of 1,320. This is an exciting time to join the school as it continues its journey to outstanding. 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and organised Pastoral/ Inclusion Officer to join our supportive and hardworking Team at Avanti Fields. 

You will have a proven track record of employing strategies that engage and motivate learners with a diverse range of needs. You will be pro-active in monitoring achievement and progression and be skilled in implementing disciplinary sanctions where necessary. You will have a good understanding of pastoral needs and contribute to the college’s ethos of high expectations. You will support learners in developing their life skills, study skills, organisation and approach to learning. You will be required to help to design, implement and quality assure a robust and meaningful tutorial programme that addresses key aspects of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. As a pastoral leader you will work alongside curriculum teams to break down barriers and ensure that all learners are able to achieve successful outcomes both academically and socially. You will have the skills to deliver exemplary, high quality group and one to one meetings which ensure the achievement and progress of every learner. Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding is essential. A Pastoral Leader should be an outstanding classroom practitioner and relevant experience in delivering tutorials would also be an advantage.

This is a key role supporting student development and progress. You will work closely with the Head of Years’, SLT and the Attendance and Admissions Officer to monitor and support all aspects of students’ wellbeing and attendance.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent skills when working with individual students; you will play a key role in meeting their pastoral needs and will need to be able to develop relationships easily with students of all backgrounds and experiences. 

You will have excellent communication skills, good time management, and the ability to multitask and be able to work to tight deadlines. Strong IT skills specifically in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) are essential and experience of Arbor would be a definite advantage although not essential.
