Providing Pastoral Support to our Sixth Form Students.

Cheney School is a popular, high-performing school located in the heart of Oxford serving a diverse community of students who are eager to learn and to be challenged. The school has a very successful, diverse Sixth Form, of 260 students. Students have achieved the school’s best ever results for the last two years in a row, with the majority going on to university (42% going to Russell Group universities).

We are seeking to appoint a Pastoral Leader Assistant in our Sixth Form to support the students both pastorally and academically, working closely with the Pastoral Leader.

The purpose of this post is to support student development under the direction of the Head of Sixth Form, working closely with the wider Sixth Form team. Because of the high level of responsibility and broad scope of duties, a real commitment to the role combined with a willingness to be flexible in sharing and scheduling the workload, are essential components of this job. The Pastoral Leader Assistant will provide flexible support to the whole Sixth Form team, help to develop, improve & monitor the Sixth Form study areas, ensure the accurate administration of Sixth Form data, and monitor attendance. Together with the Pastoral Leader, you will be a key contact for Sixth Form student pastoral issues from both a student and parent perspective.

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive person to join our team, who is passionate about working with young people and supporting their varied needs. We are a hard-working, supportive team and we look forward to welcoming someone with excellent communication skills with all stakeholders, high-level computer skills (particularly Word and Excel), adaptability and flexibility, and the ability to multi-task.

We are committed to continuous professional development and have wide-ranging training and development opportunities. We are also mindful of the competing demands people face in their lives and are happy to consider part-time applications.

Visits to the school prior to interview are warmly welcomed. To arrange a visit or if you would like more information about the role, please contact Sarah Warbrick on: swr@cheney.oxon.sch.uk

The post is for 37 hours per week, term-time + 3 days (1 INSET day and 2 Result Days) during the summer holidays. Starting salary at Grade 8 (Points 26 to 29) with actual salary of £20,404.00 – £22,630.26, based on term-time only plus 3 days.

The position comes with membership of a comprehensive Healthcare Benefits Plan.
