Job overview
Scarborough UTC is a new business backed school which opened in September 2016.
Sponsored by the University of Hull, Unison, McCain, GCHQ and key employers. We will provide a unique learning for the brightest and most determined students to lay foundations in Engineering, Design, Electronics and Control Systems and Manufacturing in North Yorkshire.
Engineering is our core element in preparing motivated learners and effective engineers and computer scientists for Higher Education and Apprenticeships.
We are looking to appoint a inspirational Pastoral Manager to join us and become a part of our dedicated and passionate team of staff. The role will be to oversee the pastoral and academic progress of students across one or more year groups in the UTC. The role is best described as a ‘non-teaching head of year role’ and is pivotal to the success of our students and it is therefore essential that we get the right person for the role who is able to work with our talented and increasingly successful student body.

About Scarborough UTC
Our UTC
Scarborough University Technical College is for 13–18-year-olds, with world class sponsors such as GCHQ, Plaxton, Unison Group, McCain, Deep Sea Electronics and the University of Hull and The University of Coventry. The UTC has specialisms in engineering; health; and computer science. Opened in September 2016, we are part of a prestigious £47 million development which boasts our UTC, a new university campus and a new sports village.
Our state-of-the-art facilities provide an industry standard, outstanding environment for learning and preparing for a career in the second quarter of the 21st century. Y9 to 11 students study a broad curriculum leading to GCSEs in maths; English; science; engineering or health; and computer science or geography. 6th form students then study linked pathways including A levels; T levels; and vocational level 3 qualifications.
The UTC offers a unique and distinctive education offer, delivering a challenging and imaginative curriculum, blending technical and academic routes to success with project-based learning and real work experience delivered by our strong employer partners. All students receive the very best in industry guidance, supporting them with their future careers aspirations, and 100% of students leave us with an onward destination of university, apprenticeship or employment.
Our college students recently finished 3rd in the F1 in Schools world championships in Singapore, leaving as the highest performing maintained school in the world. This is just one example of the ability our students possess, and the life changing opportunities we ensure are available to them daily.
