We are looking for a dedicated and professional individual to promote efficient and effective communication between parents, staff and students and pastoral care for our students.  The postholder will be part of the Student Support team contributing to promoting attendance and will support Directors of Learning and the Senior Leadership Team with pastoral concerns. The post also involves supporting transition and progression, administering first aid and supporting students with medical conditions.

You must be diligent, pro-active, and an excellent communicator and team player with the ability to build and maintain positive relations with both young people and adults in an effective and appropriate manner.

Working for The Blue Coat School means that you would be part of the Cranmer Education Trust, a successful, growing Trust which prides itself on looking after its people, offering a high level of support and access to expertise.  This is an excellent time to join the team, as we develop collaborative structures and systems to enhance and support our growing family of schools.

Alongside Blue Coat, the Trust is made up of St Anne’s Academy in Middleton and two primary schools - East Crompton St George’s and Mayfield Primary - both of which have been judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted. The Trust also incorporates a teacher training school and the East Manchester Teaching Hub; both of which support the training and development of new and existing teachers across the North West of England. We will also be opening a new secondary school in Oldham in 2022 for 1,200 pupils, The Brian Clarke CE Academy. For further details please visit https://careers.cranmereducationtrust.com/.

We offer:

• Opportunities for professional development in a growing Trust

• LGPS career average pension scheme including life insurance and dependent's pension

• Generous holiday entitlement and sick pay scheme, increasing with length of service

• Central Oldham location close to good transport networks

The Blue Coat School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Cranmer Education Trust follows safer recruitment practices. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and appointment is therefore subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins

Headteacher
