Are you a talented and committed person with experience of working with young people?

Could you rise to the challenge to help manage the pastoral care of our students to support them in meeting our expectations around attitude and behaviour for learning?

If you are seeking to further develop your experience of working with young people, perhaps as a foundation to other roles with young people and families, we can offer you the chance to expand your skills in a small, friendly school. The role will involve supporting students within our Intervention Room, many of whom have SEMH. You will be helping students to make right choices in terms of their behaviour, supporting them in approaching learning positively and providing pastoral support. You will need to be flexible as the students you work with will vary depending on need. You will also communicate with parents and carers, liaise with teaching staff and supervise and support students in detention. This role is an important one as it will have a direct impact on student engagement and therefore on the outcomes of our young people both in terms of their academic achievement and wider personal development.

You will need to be enthusiastic and able to engage students and raise their achievement. You will be required to demonstrate resilience and have experience of working collaboratively with other colleagues.

In return for your hard work and commitment to our school we can offer you a range of benefits. As an employee of Boroughbridge High School you will be entitled to our range of rewards on the NYCC ‘Everybody Benefits’ scheme. As a school we will also strive to support you though your continuing professional development.

Boroughbridge High School is a maintained LA School with 440 students on roll. We are federated with King James’s School Knaresborough. The school serves a largely rural catchment area, including the attractive market town of Boroughbridge, and drawing some students from the city of Ripon. The school is in a great location and within easy reach of York, Harrogate, Ripon and Leeds.

With almost 470 students, we serve the community of Boroughbridge and the surrounding area, which gives our school a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. We feel like a family and, as such, we know our students well making Boroughbridge High School a good place to work and learn. We strive to ensure that all students leave our school, not only with the qualifications they need to access the next stage of their education or career of choice, but with the skills and confidence to make an active contribution to the communities to which they belong.

We understand that this can only be achieved with excellent teaching and effective support through highly committed staff. Therefore, if you were to be successful, you would benefit from working as part of a supportive staff team with opportunities for personalised CPD both within school and beyond.
