Pastoral Support Worker (Safeguarding)

Grade 8 - Term Time Only + 10 days

 

Wood Green School is a growing, popular, 11-18 mixed comprehensive school with an excellent academic and pastoral reputation. It has a thriving Sixth Form.

 

The Pastoral Support Worker (Safeguarding and Family Welfare) will be an important member of our Safeguarding Team. This is led by our Designated Safeguarding Lead and includes the School Counsellor. This particular post will enable us to improve further the support that some of our students require in order to access the curriculum. Safeguarding and welfare is our top priority, and we are recognising an increase in the number of students and families who require support. If you are someone with the right qualities and experience and feel that you can help students to overcome challenges and to be successful in school, we would be keen to hear from you.

 

Key responsibilities for this post:

·       Monitor and provide continued support for students for whom transition is challenging, including liaison with parents and careers, relevant Wood Green staff, and external agencies

·       Be a contact point for families in need of additional support, including carrying out Early Help Assessments within the school

·       Liaise with a range of outside agencies, attending and sometimes leading meetings for identified students and families

·     Develop parental engagement and signpost parents to suitable supporting agencies, supporting with referral processes

·     Coordinate and, where applicable, deliver support programs for parents.

·     Undertake home visits to support attendance and welfare.

·     Work in conjunction with the Pastoral team.

·       Attend meetings as directed by the DSL/DDSL

 

Pay scale: Grade 8  - £21085 actual

 

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time (39 weeks) plus 10 days over the school holidays

Wood Green School is a mixed, comprehensive, secondary school with sixth form situated in Witney, Oxfordshire. It is an academy converter operating under The Acer Trust, which was co-founded by four Oxfordshire schools: Wood Green School, Chalgrove Primary School, Icknield Community College and Matthew Arnold School. 

Wood Green School provides 1,335 places for students between the ages of 11 and 18 when fully subscribed. It converted to academy status in February 2017.
