Job overview

Tes Institute is a leading provider of online and in-school teacher training and development courses. We have a wealth of experience in the education sector and Tes engages the services of third-party Pathway Tutors who contribute to our success. We are accredited by the DFE to deliver Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses (SKE) courses which equip participants with the in-depth subject knowledge and skills they need to teach their chosen subject as an Initial Teacher Trainee (ITT). Our SKE courses are completed online with the support of you in your role as a SKE Pathway Tutor.

About the services required

We are looking to engage the services of Pathway Tutors to support our Geography Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses. Pathway Tutors contribute to the success of our programmes through the professional support and feedback they provide learners.

As part of their services, SKE Pathway Tutors are required to support the development of learners' subject knowledge and professional skills through regular monitoring and feedback on submissions. At regular intervals, tutors must complete Checkpoint Reports detailing progress, identifying areas for development and strengths in subject knowledge. The Pathway Tutor also acts as a mentor to their learners, supporting them in being critically reflective about their professional development, subject knowledge, and the impact of their studies.

Skills and experience

Tes will only engage the services of individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Experience working with trainee teachers and/or ECTs, including providing advice and support to enable them to meet the Teachers’ Standards by the end of the academic year;
  • Geography subject specialism
  • Experience in observing teaching and learning and providing expert verbal and written feedback to develop practice;
  • Experience working professionally with schools and school staff ;
  • A Bachelors Degree;
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Full training on the SKE Pathway role will be provided.

Pathway Tutors will be allocated SKE learners according to programme demand. Once engaged, there may be opportunities to provide services face-to-face and remotely on other Tes Institute programmes too.

The deadline for applications is Friday 21st February 2025.

*Please note – Pathway Tutors are not employees of Tes, they are engaged by Tes on a self-employed basis. Pathway Tutors are paid at pre-agreed rates as suppliers and are responsible for their own insurance. They must provide invoices to Tes for their services and are responsible for their own tax affairs thereon.
