Grafham Grange School is an academy for students with social, emotional and mental health challenges, located in the Surrey Countryside, 20 minutes from Guildford. We provide an all-round education for children aged 10-16.

The vision of Grafham Grange School and as such, the intent of the curriculum, is to be able to provide every child with access to an accredited education at a level appropriate to them, further tailored to meet their needs with opportunities for vocational learning. This combined with support to help them to learn strategies to deal with the anxiety and challenges they face, which impact on their self-belief, will enable them to succeed in education and beyond.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic practitioner to coordinate and deliver the PE curriculum to all students across KS2 to KS4 including GCSE

You will have outstanding interpersonal and behaviour management skills, have high expectations, and be fully committed to supporting opportunities for disadvantaged students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Class sizes for theory based work is limited to a maximum of 8 students but practical classes will see children within a Key Stage working together.

Your planning will take into account the diversity of need and ability within each teaching group, and you will have a good understanding of engagement of students, assessment and monitoring student progress.

The school expects for the students to take part in external competitions and we are currently members of the Surrey Special Schools Sports Association so organisational skills and the willingness to offer a range of sports and games is essential.

Previous experience of working with SEMH and challenging students is highly desirable but not essential and applications from colleagues currently in mainstream settings are greatly encouraged.

The school is extremely well supported in its continual drive for excellence through its Governing Body and Academy Trust and the school is committed to CPD across its staff teams.

Applicants must have their own transport due to the rural location of the school.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact the Principal Janet Tremble on 01483 892214 for an informal discussion prior to submitting an application

Applications and queries should be sent to schooloffice@grafham-grange.co.uk

Please note that CV applications will not be accepted.

Closing Date: 9am Friday 17th January 2010

Interview Date: Week commencing 27th January 2020

We reserve the right to appoint outstanding candidates prior to the closing date.

Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
