The Escola Internacional del Camp (EIC) is an international school which opened in 2012 and is in its 8th year.
The school, located in a beautiful Mediterranean environment in Salou south of Barcelona, has a new building complex with potential to welcome up to 800 students with over 650 in September, is inclusive and offers a complete education to students aged 1 to 18. This is the first school to run with the Socrates Educa model, an innovative pedagogical system which will be implemented in other new schools in the future. We are looking for an inspirational teacher at short notice!
It is a popular and happy English / Spanish / Catalan trilingual school, offering Pre-school, Primary, Secondary, National and International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma Programme), with an international emphasis and also Chinese as a foreign language. Our curriculum is based on the local curriculum but is influenced by teachers from around the world and taught mainly in English. Our first three IB cohorts achieved above average points and pass rates. Former students are studying in universities in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany and Switzerland. We will be doubling our IB and Bachillerato numbers in the coming years.
Secondary teaching for ages 12-18 is required as well as working with events across the school and in the community.
We run a wide range of extra curricular activities, community links and projects as well as educational/cultural events and visits and an impressive annual university fair. Our sports, music and cultural events are a strong feature of life in the school. Our volleyball teams are very successful, including adult teams too. We are partners with a local sports academy, working with high level football squads.
All successful candidates should be team players, innovative, creative, able to differentiate in the classroom and motivated by the opportunity to work in a multilingual environment. The teaching is of course in English - we run English IB as well as Cambridge exams and the local Bachillerato / ESO curriculum too. International experience is essential, and you need to be a qualified teacher.
Knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish is also an advantage.
Essential for all candidates:
Fluent in English, - able to teach in authentic English.
Teachers who love teaching, can bring PE alive and can inspire students of all abilities and cultures to appreciate, enjoy and develop collaborative, creative, competitive and individual physical activity.
IB Sports Exercise and Health Science is also included.
Good ICT skills (familiar with Mac/ iPad, knowledge of educational apps)
A second subject could be useful.
Bachelor of Education / PGCE / Secondary QTS (BEd / SCITT / School Direct / Teach First) or equivalent.
Ability to teach another subject
Knowledge of Spanish
Knowledge of Catalan
Familiarity with Spanish ESO / Bachillerato / IB curriculum
