Job overview

This is a great opportunity to support an established PE Department as PE Technician with additional responsibility of School Sports Co-ordinator. The successful candidate will work within our very successful PE Department. The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of PE across the school supporting the department’s technical needs and additionally supporting at after school fixtures. In addition you will work closely with the school sport network manager to support motivate and expand a growing team of volunteer coaches across our schools network, raising the profile PE across the school group thus engaging more students in the change for life programme.  

The successful candidate will need to match our ethos the six Ps which are polite, positive, prompt, prepared, productive and proud. In addition to this outlook, we are looking for a dynamic, flexible person who is uncompromising in the pursuit of improving standards. 

This role will involve working as a PE technician for approx. 4 days per week with the equivalent of one day taking responsibility for School Sport Co-ordination. Typical responsibilities for the PE Technician will include preparation of resources and setting up gyms halls, pitches etc for practical lessons, dismantling equipment and the replenishing of stock. 

In order to support the needs of the students at after school fixtures and to develop the role of SSCO the successful candidate will possess a minimum level one coaching qualification with the desire and commitment to obtain a level two. A full driving licence and own vehicle are also essential for this role. 

The ideal applicant will be an adaptable, keen and enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal skills. Previous experience in either a similar role would be preferable although training can be given. The successful applicant will possess an A-Level or equivalent qualification in PE.
