This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in providing specialist support to the sport and leisure faculty, in mentoring a small group of students (‘cohort’) and to assist a range of   students in class. You will be part of our student support faculty which is integral to the school’s vision to ensure the young people in our school overcome barriers to their learning and achieve their full potential. We have enhanced the provision for students and staff in our Castle Phoenix Suite and we have also increased our staffing within this area.

You will be an enthusiastic, motivated professional ready to inspire and enthuse our students to meet their aspirational targets.   Ideally you will be a graduate with sound numeracy and literacy skills.

You will be approachable, resilient   and able to support our vulnerable students as well as our most able  encouraging them to become independent learners. If you are interested in having a career in  teaching, you will gain experience and training to prepare you for this, through   the management of your ‘cohort’ of identified students, overseeing their   progress and acting a reporting link to staff at all levels.

You will have a strong commitment to   inclusive education, have had some experience of, or training in, learning strategies,   and have the ability to supervise and support the teaching activities of   individuals or groups of young people. The role will include meeting a range of needs of individuals and   groups of students (11-18) both in the classroom, outdoor learning   environments and by working with external agencies.

As a caring school that achieves very  igh standards, Caludon Castle has a great deal to be proud of. We are an oversubscribed, high performing  school and our ICT-rich, state of the art premises, our specialism in   Leadership and our Teaching School status and Castle Phoenix Trust profile,   mean that we have exceptional facilities, motivated students and staff, and a   host of exciting opportunities. We  offer a range of benefits which includes cycle to work and childcare voucher   schemes, discounted gym membership, free parking and an employee discount scheme.

Through the leader in our student support faculty, we provide comprehensive induction training so that you can shadow our other staff, get a really good understanding of our systems and   policies and have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know our   students during your induction programme.

If you are passionate about improving students’ life chances, as we are, please contact Emma Over, HR Director for information, an informal discussion about the post or to arrange a visit.
