The Leigh Academy is looking to appoint an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Performing Arts & Media Technician to join a well-motivated and successful faculty. Responsible to the Co-ordinator of Music, the Performing Arts & Media Technician will be expected to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and provide assistance in meeting the needs of the Performing Arts & Media curriculum, including liaising with teaching and support staff outside the faculty. In addition, the Technician will be required to provide technical support at school events both during the school day and at some evening and weekend events which would be agreed in advance.  Furthermore, we can offer our successful candidate the opportunity to provide an element of teaching support within the Music remit, making this an ideal opportunity for those who are seeking to enroll on a Teacher Training course for September 2019/2020 - we have places available within our Trust. 

The successful applicant will have previous experience of working in a technician post and hold an A Level or equivalent qualification in one or more performing arts-related subject. They must be an effective communicator and be able to use their own initiative. Experience in any one of music technology, theatre sound or lighting design is essential and experience in more than one of these areas would be advantageous, as would experience in traditional or digital visual arts. A flexible ‘can do’ attitude is also essential, as is the ability to provide the very best levels of service to all employees and stakeholders in the faculty.  Please consult the Job Description by clicking here for an overview of daily duties and responsibilities.

The working basis of this role is full time (37 hours per week) during Term Time + 1 additional week of inset. The salary available is as follows;

Including teaching: Trust Pay Scale E grade; £18,657 - £20,519 full time equivalent with an actual salary of £15,787 - £17,363 based on experience

Excluding teaching: Trust Pay Scale D grade; £17,758 - £18,657 full time equivalent with an actual salary of £15,026 - £15,787 based on experience
