Job Description

Job title : Performing Arts Technical Specialist

Reports to : Director of Estates 

Background and introduction to the role

The school is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced technician for the Performing Arts Department. The school operates Drama and Music facilities catering for specialist lessons. The Performing Arts Department also produce Musical productions, plays, and both choral and orchestral performances for pupils aged 9-18.

Key Responsibilities

· To work closely with the Head of Performing Arts Department

· To manage, maintain and develop expertise with all performing arts equipment:

Ø Lighting

Ø Audio

Ø Video

Ø Costume

Ø Props

· Set design & construction

· Support assemblies, productions & events around the College 

· To prepare and then clear away equipment used during lessons

· To assist in class when required by teacher

· To liaise with the Design Technology and Art Technicians for the productions of sets

· Oversight and management of instruments store and costume cupboard

· To assist with administration of the Performing Arts Department

· To assist with identifying & purchasing of resources

Candidates will ideally demonstrate

· Proven experience as a technician

· Willingness to learn and develop

· Ability to plan ahead and manage the needs of a range of teachers

· Calmness under pressure and outstanding administrative organisation

Essential Requirements

· Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Art/Design/Creative Multimedia, Music/Performing Arts Studies or equivalent

· At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position

· Applicants must be willing to work in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia
