Hammersmith & Fulham, INSPIRE is keen to recruit term-time Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our successful and highly regarded Outreach Service.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who have experience of working with children who have a diagnosis of Autism to join The Inclusion and Specialist Intervention Outreach Service (INSPIRE) which includes the Specialist Autism Teacher Team. 

We are looking to develop and expand the Service provision. The Autism team provides specialist advice, recommendations and specialist interventions to Hammersmith & Fulham Settings and Schools to promote inclusion, encourage participation, support well-being and develop learning for pupils with SEND. INSPIRE also works with settings/schools to develop their workforce to build knowledge, understanding and capacity for supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream settings.

We are looking for candidates who have strong experience of delivering a range of autism specific interventions to support the learning and development of pupils.

You will be a highly skilled with exceptional communication skills who can demonstrate an ability to engage children and build strong working relationships with your team and with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children. The successful post holder will work under the guidance of Specialist Teachers for Autism.

You will have a good understanding of education issues and understanding of how to work with a range of settings/schools.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To work under the guidance of the Senior Manager, INSPIRE and Specialist Teachers on the preparation and delivery of evidence based interventions for children with Autism in mainstream settings/schools.
  • To support Specialist Teachers and classroom based staff in the monitoring of pupil progress through a range of assessment activities and, where appropriate, modify methods to meet individual and/or group needs.
  • Under the guidance of Specialist Teachers to deliver interventions and activities to targeted children with Autism (one to one or in a small group) that involve modelling and using a coaching model with classroom teachers and support staff across a range of settings/schools.
  • Under the guidance of Specialist Teachers to work collaboratively to assess the academic, social/emotional and behavioural needs of children with Autism referred to INSPIRE and to devise, deliver, monitor and evaluate individual intervention programmes.
  • To contribute to the statutory assessment process of specific children through, observation, evidence gathering and report writing.

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • Grade C or 5 (or equivalent) or above in GCSE English - Essential
  • Grade C or 5 (or equivalent) or above in GCSE Maths - Essential
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (or studying for qualification) - Desirable
  • Accredited training in supporting pupils with ASD - Desirable
