Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of the violin or the flute? We have an exciting opportunity to work within our vibrant and highly motivated music department delivering the MISST programme.

The successful candidate will:

·      Be able to teach both the violin and the flute

·      Have previous experience of delivering the MISST programme

Dormers Wells High School is an 11-18 mixed, multi-cultural academy within the Dormers Wells Learning Trust and is proud to be one of only twenty-five schools nationally delivering the Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MISST) programme. All students will receive a free classical musical instrument from the school, and will learn how to play this instrument from Year 7 onwards. The programme enables students to engage with music, helping to promote personal, social, intellectual and cultural development. Research has shown the positive impact that learning an instrument can have on raising academic outcomes.

Throughout all topics, an emphasis on perseverance, resilience and self-evaluation will help students to develop as successful learners. In addition to Music lessons, students have the opportunity to further develop their musical talent through extra-curricular peripatetic lessons. There are also opportunities for students to audition for our school orchestra, perform at celebration assemblies, awards evening and open evenings amongst others.

Here at Dormers Wells High School we have high expectations for the achievement of all of our students and our character values of determination, wisdom, honesty and service underpin all that we do. Our latest Ofsted report validates this sentiment with the school continuing to be judged as securely Good.

“Dormers Wells High School is a nurturing environment. Pupils are happy and feel safe.” “The school sets high standards for pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in all areas of the school. They are polite and courteous.”

·      Competitive salaries and pay progression

·      An impressive wellbeing package, which includes contributions towards medical and dental procedures and eye tests.
