OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
To teach individual students at all levels the instrument (or singing) in which you specialise.
REPORTS TO
Head of Humanities Faculty via the Music Department Teacher(s). You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Principal.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
You should carry out your role to support the needs of the students you work with and the College in general. The main responsibilities are (this list is not exhaustive):
To teach individual students at all levels the instrument (or singing) in which you specialise
To prepare students for practical music exams where appropriate, covering all aspects of the exam content (pieces, scales, technical studies, sight-reading, aural)
Encourage pupils to participate in and prepare pupils for concerts and competitions and advise ensemble staff of the suitability of individual pupils for extra-curricular ensembles.
When required teach a small group or coach ensembles.
To maintain a practice record book which pupils will take home to inform parents of targets and progress
To write reports for students and maintain records of individual’s progress
To maintain accurate pupil registers and complete other relevant administration as required
To support music students in producing termly targets, and to write a brief review at the end of each term
To attend parents’ evenings
To attend necessary training as required
To always promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all that the school does.
