JOB DESCRIPTION 

Peripatetic Music Teacher - Voice Specialist

To teach Voice lessons to pupils from Years 1 to 8, as agreed with the Head of Music.

  • planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual pupils' needs and examination syllabuses;
  • acquiring appropriate teaching materials and resources;
  • teaching music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to pupils;
  • ensuring up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements;
  • entering and preparing pupils for examinations;
  • motivating pupils and encouraging progress; liaising with the Head of Music, academic staff and parents;
  • assessing pupils’ abilities, providing feedback and writing reports;
  • participating in school concerts and recitals;
  • keeping records of students’ attendance and lessons taught.
  • To attend school events, as required, in the course of the year such as parents' evenings, performances, and concerts.
  • Periodically to review programmes of work and methods of teaching.
  • To attend courses to develop professional skills.

GENERAL

  • To work in a co-operative, diplomatic and flexible manner.
  • To foster and maintain good working relationships, acting as a courteous, friendly and business-like member of the school team.
  • To maintain good practice in terms of staff attendance, discipline and professional attitude in the school.
  • To keep the Headmistress or Deputy Head informed of any relevant matters concerning pupils or staff.
  • To work with the administrative staff in order to ensure the smooth running of the school on a day-to-day basis and on special occasions.
  • To undertake such additional duties as might be reasonably requested by the Headmistress or other authorised person.
