Job overview

Job Description
An opportunity has arisen, within the Inclusion Service, for us to recruit a Primary Pupil Support Teacher (PPST).  A secondment will be considered.

The PPST appointed will contribute to the identification and assessment of children with Additional Support Needs, the planning of learning and teaching, cooperative teaching with class teachers and the professional development of staff.

Further the PPST will work in partnership with specialist services and provide consultation opportunities to staff and parents.

This post will support a number of Primary Schools.

The Individual
You will have an understanding of the Pupil Support Teacher role and remit, experience of working with children and young people with a range of additional support needs and an understanding of inclusion and additional support needs within a legislative and educational context.

A relevant post graduate qualification in Additional Support Needs would be desirable.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details for two referees, including email addresses. One should be your current or most recent employer. If you are already employed as a teacher with Perth & Kinross Council, you are only required to provide 1 reference, which must be from your current Head Teacher.

As part of our safer recruitment measures, Perth & Kinross Council carries out rigorous checks on the right to work in the UK, qualifications, employment history, including references, and fitness to undertake the post.

Some jobs may have been traditionally carried out predominately by one gender, but we would encourage you to apply if you meet the requirements, irrespective of your gender.

Perth & Kinross Council welcomes applications from former armed forces personnel/reservists. Many of the skills picked up during your military career could be transferred directly into a role with local government.
