The college is a vibrant, inclusive community with over 2000 students from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds, all united in their enthusiasm for learning.

We require a full-time Personal Tutor to work as part of the Student Support team within the College, to start as soon as possible.

The Student Support team offers extensive support and guidance, ensuring that our students thrive and can reach their full potential, whilst preparing them for the next stage of their lives.

The role of the Personal Tutor (PT) is fundamental to the College’s pastoral system, which is central to the support we offer our students. The PT has the general responsibility for overseeing the academic and personal progress of the students within allocated tutorial group(s), for their general support and for setting high standards and conveying the college ethos and expectations of students.

PTs will monitor the academic and personal development, attendance and behaviour of all their tutees. PTs provide comprehensive pastoral support, liaising with the Assistant Heads of Student Support (Next Steps and Personal Development), Lead Tutors (LT), and the Assistant Principal for Student Support Services when greater needs arise. PTs will support students in their progress towards their academic and personal targets as well as contributing to the development of wider competencies through the tutorial programme. PTs contribute to applications related to progression, including UCAS, further education and employment.

The College is fully committed to supporting all members of staff through staff development and in-service training.

This is a permanent, full-time, term-time only post with up to 10 extra contractual days (which will be paid separately), subject to the conditions of service handbook of the Sixth Form Colleges Association. Salary will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Association support staff pay scale 11 - 15 which is currently £20,409.19 – £22,988.87 per annum for term-time only based on 37 hours per week.

Full requirements for the role can be found in the attached job description and person specification or from the college: email hr@kedst.ac.uk; or access information via the college website: www.kedst.ac.uk.

Please note that CVs cannot be accepted. Applications must be sent electronically in the original format (Word document). Closing date for applications is 9.00 am on Monday 13 February. Interviews are anticipated to take place on Friday 17 February.

King Edward VI College, Stourbridge is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. The College celebrates diversity and aims to recruit a diverse range of staff.
