The Trustees are seeking to appoint a Phase Lead for Early Years and Key Stage 1 for Excelsior Academy to start 1st January 2020.
Excelsior Academy is an innovative academy; it works on a ‘schools within a school’ model. Excelsior is part of the Laidlaw Schools Trust, created to give children from socially and economically challenged areas the best possible education and start in life. In September 2013, we became Newcastle’s first all-through Academy educating children from age 3 to 19 years old.
Working at Excelsior will challenge you but the rewards are huge. Successful candidates will play an important role in our continuous drive for further improvement and will have the potential to work Early Years (EY) and Key Stage One.
The successful candidate will join a successful MAT where all Academies support each other to the benefit of our pupils and their families. Our Academies also enjoy strong support from an experienced LST central team, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

About Excelsior Academy
Excelsior Academy is an all-through school located in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. The school was first established in 2008, as a secondary school and sixth form (later split into three separate schools), and in 2012 it was decided that the school would merge with a local primary school, creating a new school for pupils aged 3-19. With around 1200 pupils, Excelsior Academy is larger than the average secondary school, and covers a culturally and economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in the school’s intake.

They say that they particularly like the fact that they are respected and listened to. The percentage of students gaining five good passes at GCSE, including English and mathematics, has risen by an average of six percentage points each year since the academy opened in 2008.
