Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Phase Leader for Al Danah Charter School in Abu Dhabi for the next Academic Year 2022 - 2023.

Al Danah Charter School is KG and Cycle One school located in the outskirts of Abu Dhabi providing a high-quality education to over 1700 students. RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Purpose

To be able to teach in an inspiring, and inclusive way, enabling independence, so that every child makes as much progress as possible; to develop positive working relationships with all members of the school and wider community; and to provide high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all students


Main Duties & Responsibilities 

  • To assist the Senior Leadership Team in shaping a vision and direction for the phase, setting out very high expectations with a clear focus on pupil achievement, standards and quality of teaching. 
  • To inspire, motivate, empower and influence staff and students within the Phase team, taking a leading role in maintaining the highest standards of learning, teaching and behaviour management. 
  • To provide an excellent role model for all members of staff and for pupils in all aspects of school life.
  • To have a dynamic solution-based approach to leadership.
  • To play a significant role in implementing, reviewing and measuring impact of the whole School Development Plan and the SEF within the phase.
  • To monitor, evaluate and review learning, teaching, curriculum and assessment through formal and informal book looks, learning walks and observations.
  • To make a significant contribution to the school’s continuing professional development programme, delivering CPD and working with individuals and teams in a variety of professional development activities. 
  • To lead on implementing individual teacher action plans as required, to improve outcomes within the Phase.
  • To use data analysis and relevant assessment information to set targets for improvement across the phase and analyse the impact of this.
  • To lead Pupil Progress meetings with year groups and ensure that they have effective outcomes.
  • To coordinate and support in the delivery of the intervention programme within the Phase and review and evaluate the impact of this.
  • To lead meetings and communications within the Phase.
  • To monitor and promote excellent attendance and punctuality of all students and staff in the Phase.
  • To present data to the Senior Leadership Team in line with the monitoring schedule.
  • To take a lead on developing innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship (ICE) across the relevant phase group.
  • To take a lead on developing the use of technology across the relevant phase group.
  • To lead on the transition programme for students and parents from each phase.
  • To ensure all new students and families are inducted into the phase.
  • To work with the Inclusion team to identify and monitor students with SEN and those who are Gifted and Talented to ensure they receive the appropriate support.
  • To work with the ELL team to identify and monitor students with ELL to ensure they receive the appropriate support.
  • To have responsibility for the effective line management of the Grade Level Leaders, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities and fulfil these to a high standard.
  • To quality assure learning environments within the Phase, so they are inspiring and of the highest standards.
  • To quality assure home learning and home school communication within the Phase.
  • To quality assure all pastoral care and the monitoring of behaviour, rewards and consequences in line with school policy within the relevant phase group.
  • To coordinate all trips and visits for the relevant phase group via the Grade Level Leaders.
  • To ensure all educational visits paperwork is complete and signed off in line with Educational Visits policy.
  • To oversee the logistics and procedures of break and lunch times within the phase.
  • To quality control all events that take place within the phase.
  • To work collaboratively with other phase leaders, ensuring an understanding of whole school issues. 
  • To lead on a whole school area of responsibility.
  • To provide cover for direct reports.
  • To fulfil any additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate from the Senior Leadership Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor Degree in Education or B.Sc degree with PGCE is essential. Desirable Master’s Degree.


Minimum Experience  

  • 6-years’ experience of which 4 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by performance appraisal. 
  • To have the required level in Arabic and/ or English language or the language applied in the curriculum of the school and determined by the relevant authority in UAE.
  • Leadership experience is desirable

Job Specific Knowledge & Skill 

  • Must have a secure knowledge of teaching and learning and a track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning, 
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team. 
  • Must able to model outstanding planning and teaching and learning strategies. 
  • Must have a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished/implemented to move a kg area forward towards outstanding and be able to coach and motivate others when support is needed.
  • Ability to organize tasks and to handle multiple tasks
