Phase Learning Assistants, Years 3/4 & 5/6

We are seeking to appoint two outstanding Phase Learning Assistants to support the Teaching Staff with daily activities, ensuring maximum pupil progress in learning.  The successful candidates should have experience of working in a classroom and establishing excellent relationships with pupils. The role will involve working with individuals or small groups across the six classes of each phase. The school provides a stimulating and attractive working environment and supports the professional development of all staff.  

The posts are term time plus seven days, 34.5 hours per week. The salary for these posts will be up to £18,000 per annum, depending upon qualifications and relevant experience.

Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.

The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.

Pedagogy and teacher development takes a collaborative approach which is both voluntary and open-minded.  Many teaching staff attend Learning Lunches where their peers will demonstrate new developments or ideas with which they have been experimenting.  In addition, teachers can request specific training which is often run in well attended Twilight Training sessions at the end of a school day.  The School operates an ‘open door’ approach with teachers regularly observing and learning from each other.
