Physical Education - School Direct Teacher Training 

September 2020 - July 2021

We are seeking to appoint well-qualified applicants to train as PE teachers through the School Direct PGCE PE programme.  Working in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, the school can offer a high quality, comprehensive training programme.  Successful applicants will spend most of the week in school, with some time at the university.  Applicants should have a degree in a Sports/PE relevant subject and, once approved by the school, would be required to apply for a PGCE place at the university.  Applications are welcome from recent graduates or anyone looking for a career change.  Our trainees have been very successful in securing PE posts after training. This post is non salaried,  Staff accommodation at a competitive rate may be available.

Watford Grammar School for Boys is an academy with over 1400 students, including over 400 in the sixth form. From its origins as a charity school for 60 pupils founded by Dame Elizabeth Fuller in 1704, the boys’ school moved to its present site in 1912 and became an Academy in 2010. Located next to the centre of Watford, near Cassiobury Park, it comprises of a Grade II listed building, The Clarendon Muse, The James Theatre, a dedicated STEM Centre and extensive sports facilities.
