ISR International School on the Rhine is a leading international IB World school in the Neuss, Düsseldorf and Cologne region in Germany. There are about 1000 students from 54 nations attending Kindergarten through Grade 12.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic teacher of Physical Education to join our expanding ISR Team to start as of August 1, 2023. Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, a teaching certificate and experience working with students across all year groups teaching Physical Education. Experience in IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme will be advantageous.

We are particularly looking for teachers who:

• Are flexible, team players and are able to build sound relationships with students, colleagues and parents

• Are passionate about their teaching and committed to achieving high standards

• Demonstrate excellent classroom performance and have excellent communication skills

• Create a vibrant classroom environment

In particular, we are searching for a Physical Education (PE) teacher with:

·  Substantial experience of delivering outstanding PE across all year groups, including Kindergarten

· Experience and passion of and for delivering PE and sports

· Experience of assessing student progress in a range of assessment techniques

· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team player

· Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines

· Support the PE department to achieve the priorities and targets set out in the department and school development plan

· Be an exemplary teacher, clearly demonstrating thorough and effective planning, teaching and organisation and the highest standards of achievement and behaviour in PE

· Be an active member of the department in the on-going review of the PE curriculum and related schemes of work

· Work closely with the wider sports department to secure and maintain excellent communication and the highest standards within the department

· Support the development of PE assessment procedures in liaising with teachers and ensure there is progression across year groups

· Demonstrate good subject knowledge across a wide range of activities, including swimming, in each area of the school

· Offer and lead a variety of extra-curricular activities for students across the school

· Commitment of building up and coaching various ISR Sport Teams 

· Plan and coordinate school events such as “Sports Camp” and “ISR Family, Fun & Sports Day” together with our marketing team

· Taking care of sports facilities and sports equipment

About ISR International School on the Rhine

ISR International School on the Rhine is a co-educational international school located in the Rhineland region of Germany. The school provides places to around 1040 students aged 3-18, and occupies a large single campus. The curriculum at ISR has a primarily international focus, with a strong German theme. Younger students in the school’s Primary and Lower Secondary schools receive an international education, with a particular focus on English and German-language instruction; the school blends the Cambridge curriculum with selected aspects of other international curricula to ensure a holistic education. When students move into Upper Secondary, they will begin their journey toward IGCSE examinations. Older students can spend their final two years at ISR studying for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Students are given extensive support from dedicated staff as to their options upon leaving school, be it employment or higher education, with the school working hard to ensure they meet the entrance criteria for a huge range of international universities.

Teaching information

New teachers at ISR are given a two-week training programme in August, in order to familiarise themselves with the school and its network. Teachers are expected to hold an undergraduate degree in their chosen specialist teaching subjects, as well as an accredited teaching qualification such as a postgraduate diploma.
